Initial case
The patient comes to the studio to improve her smile, compromised by various composite fillings and a crown of gold ceramic incongruous (items 13 to 24).
It’s been asked a renovation that will restore the natural aesthetics respecting the shape and size of teeth present, avoiding alter the personality of the patient.
In response to requests received, to achieve maximum aesthetics, naturalness and biocompatibility, it decided to make the ceramic restoration.
The four central elements with feldspathic ceramic, and the remaining in lithium disilicate.
Were then packaged two facets, elements 11-21 or double row in the jacket, on the elements 12 – 22 feldspar ceramic thus increasing the refractive index and the mimicry with respect to the tooth structure present, ensuring the same behavior with respect to light, to color to obtaining a final effect the most likely one.
On the element 12 there is a critical issue, a pivot abutment in metal, is used to remedy an opaque covering amending and covers only the area of the pin.
To realize them has been used the technique of Foil of Platinum, methodical ancient and at the same time modern, since it allows to realize ceramic restorations of opacity, translucency and opalescence diversified in the same restoration, therefore adaptable to any situation.
The elements 13, 23 and 24 the most stressed by tensions have been realized in lithium disilicate glass ceramic cast with the cut-back technique, you chose this material to have a greater mechanical strength without adversely affecting translucency.
The end result is very pleasing, despite the different materials, thicknesses and substrates, the veneers, jacket crowns and crowns lithium disilicate, showing an integration compared to natural teeth and the tissue response.
We thank Professor Loris Prosper Monza for permission to use their photos of the clinical case.
