Case Presentation
This case consists on a multidisciplinary treatment of a patient with Generalized Chronic Periodontitis. Is a 41-year-old female patient with pain in her upper right teeth as chief complaint. The patient had no systemic disease and had no medication. Is smoker of 20 cigarettes per day and didn’t receive any dental treatment in the last 2 years.
The intraoral exam resulted in a diagnosis of Generalized moderate, localized severe, chronic periodontitis.
The patient was enrolled in a periodontal treatment protocol that consisted first in a cause-related therapy (Scaling and root planning, and oral hygiene instructions and after re-evaluation, periodontal surgeries were done in 4 sextants).
After re-evaluation and as periodontal health was achieved, the patient started orthodontic treatment in order to improve not only esthetics but also to improve access for interdental hygiene.
A dental implant (Straumann Tissue Level Standard Plus) was placed in position 26 and 3 months later a screw-retained crown was performed.
The patient was enrolled in a supportive periodontal program and periodontal risk was assessed, recommending the patient to have maintenance visits every 6 months.
