The Award 2017 – Excellence in Prosthodontics

During the IX AIOP Mediterranean Meeting the winning team has been revealed and awarded by Dr Paolo Vigolo (President of AIOP – Accademia Italiana di Odontoiatria Protesica) and one of the judges Dr Pascal Magne. Congratulations Dr Ionut Branzan and Cristian Petri CDT!

Pascal Magne

Dr. Magne graduated from the University of Geneva Dental School, Switzerland, in 1989 with a Med.Dent. He obtained his doctorate in 1992 and his Ph.D. degree in 2002. He received postgraduate training in fixed prosthodontics and occlusion, operative dentistry and endodontics; he was a lecturer at the same university from 1989 to 1997. From 1997 to 1999, he was a visiting associate professor at the Minnesota Dental Research Center for Biomaterials and Biomechanics, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. After concluding two years of research, Dr. Magne returned to University of Geneva Dental School and held the position of senior lecturer in the Division of Fixed Prosthodontics and Occlusion.Dr. Magne is a recipient of multiple awards from the Swiss Science Foundation and the Swiss Foundation for Medical-Biological Grants. He was the recipient of the 2002 Young Investigator Award from the International Association for Dental Research. He is also the author of numerous clinical and research articles on aesthetics and adhesive dentistry and is an internationally known lecturer on these topics. Dr. Magne authored the book Bonded Porcelain Restorations in the Anterior Dentition — A Biomimetic Approach, which has been translated into eight languages and is considered one of the most outstanding books in the field of adhesive and aesthetic dentistry.

Michel Magne

Michel Magne is born in la Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland) in 1958. He grew up and followed his primary education in Neuchâtel, where he certified as Dental Technician (MDT) in 1979. He developed his technical education in fixed prosthodontics (ceramics) and esthetics until today. Between 1985 and 1991, he was consecutively directing two dental laboratories as Master Ceramist and he specialized in implant-supported work, complex oral rehabilitation and bonded porcelain restorations. From 1992 to 2004, he has been the owner and director of Oral Design Center, Dental Laboratory in Montreux (Switzerland). In January 2005, he became Associate Professor of Clinical Dentistry and Director of the Center of Dental Technology at the University of Southern California (USC, Los Angeles). Since 2009 he is President and Director of Michel Magne Los Angeles (United States) Laboratory and Dental Education. He is in charge of a number of esthetic courses and postgraduate education worldwide. He is author and co-author of numerous articles on esthetic dentistry and is worldwide frequently invited to lecture on these topics.
