Prosthetic treatment with lithium disilicate crowns for serious tetracycline discoloration.
ALL CLINICAL CASES
Tetracyclines are antibiotics that, when given to children during tooth development, bind to dentin irreversibly, thus causing an abnormal coloration which affects the enamel.
For this patient, a 46-year old woman, we opted for a prosthetic treatment with ceramic crowns (lithium disilicate), because of the intensity of the discoloration.
The patient, who is a non-smoker, tried different types of whitening treatments in the past, but without any result.
With our team, we decided to use crowns instead of veneers for two reasons:
1) to correct the occlusal surfaces;
2) to satisfy the patient’s desire not to have two colours on the same tooth.
